Four battery families Chart splitting cordless Dyson vacuums into the 21.6V click-in family, the 25.2V V10 family, the 22.2V legacy DC family and the newer V11/V15 line that uses its own packs.

Which Dyson battery do you actually need?

Cordless Dysons do not share one battery. Three voltages and two fitting styles split the range into families, and a pack from the wrong family will not physically sit in the machine. Match the family first, then narrow by model.

Voltage is the hard boundary, not the shape. A 22.2 V legacy pack and a 21.6 V V6 pack look similar in photos, and forcing one into the other damages the tool contacts. Read the label on your existing battery before you order — we match on that number.

Cost

What a new battery costs versus a new vacuum

A Dyson stick vacuum that has lost its charge is usually a AU $700 machine with a AU $50 fault. Replacing the pack is the cheapest repair in the house, and it takes under ten minutes with one screwdriver.

Replace the battery

AU $36.79 to AU $75.79 depending on platform, shipped free from Sydney, 1 year warranty.

The motor, filtration and wand you already own are fine. A new machine throws away working hardware to solve one worn-out part.

Is it really the battery?

Before you spend anything: two 5-minute checks

Wash and fully dry the pre-motor filter, and clear the cyclone and airway of blockages. Both produce cutting-out and short run times that look exactly like a dead cell. If the machine still dies after an hour of cooling and a clean airway, the pack is the fault — start with the V7 not-holding-charge guide or the DC35 won't-charge guide.

Fitting

Three steps, one screwdriver, no shop visit

Every order ships with the fitting guidance printed on the packing card, and the same steps are on each product page. Take a photo of the old battery label before you remove it — that photo is your proof if a warranty claim is ever needed.

  1. 1
Three photographs showing where the battery retaining screw sits on a Dyson SV03 handle and the screw being loosened.

    Release the old pack

Unplug the charger first. Remove the retaining screws or press the release catch, then slide the battery away from the handle.

  2. 2
Three photographs showing a replacement battery being aligned to the handle, slid into position and secured.

    Fit the replacement

Line up the contacts, push home until it seats fully, then refit the screws snugly — do not force plastic threads.

  3. 3
Photographs of a cordless Dyson docked on its wall charger with the charging indicator lit, then being used on a floor.

    Charge, then use

Use your original Dyson charger. A brand new pack arrives with a partial charge; run the first clean after a full charge so the fuel gauge settles.

Stop if you see any of these

A swollen or discoloured case, a burnt smell, a pack that got wet, or cells that rattle loose inside. Do not charge it, do not puncture it. Take it to an Australian household-battery recycler (most councils and large retailers run drop-off points) and order a replacement instead.

We are an Australian owned and operated battery distributor supplying laptop, power tool and vacuum replacement batteries at wholesale-driven prices. Our customer base includes government departments, schools, universities and small businesses around the country, alongside household Dyson owners.

Matched by part code

Compatibility is stated against published Dyson part numbers and machine codes, so the pack you order is the pack that fits.

Sony or Panasonic 18650 cells with protection against over-current, short circuit and internal overheating, and 100 % QC before dispatch.

Sydney warehouse

Orders are processed within 24 hours from Granville, NSW 2142. Most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, fully tracked.

Warranty dealt with here

1 year warranty and 30 day money back, handled by our own support team on info@aussiebatt.com, Monday to Friday 9am–4pm.

Still inside Dyson's warranty period? Fitting any third-party battery will normally void Dyson's cover on that machine. If yours is new enough to still be covered, claim through Dyson first — most of our customers come to us once the original warranty has already expired.

Questions

Dyson battery replacement FAQ

Will a replacement battery fit my Dyson without modification?

Yes, provided the platform and voltage match. Our packs are built to the same mounting point, connector and charger profile as the original pack for that model, so nothing is cut, drilled or adapted. If a pack needs modification to fit, it is the wrong pack.

Can I keep using my original Dyson charger?

Yes. A 21.6 V replacement takes the 21.6 V Dyson charger, and the legacy 22.2 V DC31–DC45 packs take the matching 22.2 V charger. Never substitute a charger of a different voltage to save buying one — see the charger pages if yours is missing or faulty.

Why does my new battery arrive warm or only partly charged?

Lithium packs ship at a partial state of charge for transport safety, and mild warmth after the first long clean is normal. A pack that is hot, swelling or smelling of burnt plastic is not normal — stop using it and contact us.

My Dyson cuts out after a few minutes. Is that the battery?

Often not. A blocked filter or airway makes the machine overheat and shut down to protect the motor, which feels identical to a failing cell. Clean the filter, clear the cyclone, let it cool for an hour and retest. If the run time is still short, work through the replacement decision list.

How long does a cordless Dyson battery last before it needs replacing?

Lithium-ion packs are rated for a few hundred full charge cycles. With weekly domestic use that is typically two to four years; heavy MAX-mode use, hot roof spaces and flat storage shorten it. The lifespan guide explains the factors.

What is covered by the warranty, and how do I claim?

Every battery carries a full 1 year warranty against failure, plus a 30 day money back window if it is the wrong fit. Email info@aussiebatt.com with your order number, the model code off the machine and a short description of the fault — support runs Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm.

Do you sell packs for the V11, V12 or V15 Detect?

Not in the current range. Those machines use their own higher-voltage, machine-specific packs, and we would rather tell you that than list something we cannot supply. The V11, V12 and V15 compatibility guide covers what your options are, including the part number to email us if you want a sourcing check.

Still not sure which pack you need?

Send us the code printed on your existing battery and we will confirm the matching pack, price and delivery time before you pay anything.
