V8 battery price against Dyson Australia
Dyson Australia sells a single genuine pack that covers both V7 and V8 SKU codes. Here is its list price next to ours, plus the two parts owners most often need at the same time.
| Item | Dyson AU list price | AussieBatt | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| V7 / V8 replacement battery, part 972237-01 | AU $150.00 | AU $52.79 | AU $97.21 · 65% less |

OEM prices shown are Dyson Australia list prices for the corresponding genuine part, checked on dyson.com.au on 31 October 2026. Dyson changes prices and availability — confirm before relying on the saving figure. The saving column is subtraction between two published prices, not a quote.
Why one genuine part is two products here
Dyson lists 972237-01 against V7 SKUs (419671-01, 419672-01, 419667-01) and V8 SKUs (394437-01, 394441-01, 400392-01, 400393-01, 419680-01). We sell the platform packs separately because the shells and the code lists differ: the V7 pack is AU $50.79 and this V8 pack is AU $52.79. Every figure is compared side by side on the Dyson Australia price comparison.
Four things this pack brings back to a tired V8
4.0 Ah, 86.4 Wh
21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh of stored energy — the number that decides how much cleaning a single charge supports, alongside the mode and head you use.
Panasonic 18650 cells
Panasonic A grade 18650 lithium cells with protection against over-current, short circuit and internal overheating, and 100 % QC of every battery before dispatch.

What you receive
One battery pack plus the screws already on your machine. Nothing is cut, drilled or adapted, and your existing 21.6 V charger is the charger you keep. If the pre-motor filter is due as well, Dyson Australia lists the V6/V7/V8 pre-filter at AU $35.00 — but wash and dry your current filter before you blame the battery for a cut-out.
Extras such as a printed fitting card, spare screws or a filter are not published on our live V8 listing, so they are flagged rather than assumed: [CONFIRM what printed material ships in the V8 box].
Three steps, one screwdriver
The V8 pack is screw-retained. Photograph the label on the old battery before removal — that image is your proof if you ever need to claim.
-
1

Undo the retaining screws
Unplug the charger. The photo is from our SV03 screw-in sequence and shows an SV03 label, but the retained-screw principle is the same on a V8.
-
2

Swap the packs
Lift the depleted pack away, line the new one up to the same mounting points and contacts, and seat it squarely before tightening anything.
-
3

Refit, charge, clean
Refit your original screws snugly — never force plastic threads — then charge on your original Dyson charger before the first long clean.
Stop if the old pack shows any of this
A swollen or discoloured case, a burnt smell, a pack that was dropped hard or soaked, or cells rattling loose inside. Do not charge it and never puncture it. Take it to an Australian household-battery recycler.
Why Dyson V8 batteries fail on this platform
Cycles, heat and a blocked airway
V8 owners typically lean on the middle and MAX settings for pet hair and carpet, and MAX draws far more current than ECO, which ages the cells quicker. Add an Australian summer in a shed or a car, and a pack that is stored flat will lose capacity permanently. Two failures wear the same clothing though: a blocked pre-motor filter or a choked cyclone makes the machine overheat and cut out in a way that looks exactly like a dying battery. Work through the signs it is time to replace the battery, V8 usage tips and the battery care guide before you order.
Dyson V8 battery questions, answered
Will fitting this V8 battery void my Dyson warranty?
Most likely, yes, while the machine is still inside Dyson's cover period — a third-party battery will normally void Dyson's cover on that machine, and we say that openly. Our own limitation is published in full: our warranty does not extend to any products that are physically damaged or that are not under normal operating conditions as a result of misuse or improper installation on the buyer/user's part. See does it void my warranty.
Will my existing V8 charger work?
Yes — this pack charges on the same 21.6 V Dyson charger as the original. If the charger is missing, see the Dyson charger page; never substitute a charger of another voltage.
The old pack runs hot. Is that the battery or a blockage?
Check the airway first. Warmth after a long clean is normal; a pack that is too hot to hold, or a machine that stops and only restarts after cooling, can be a blocked filter or cyclone rather than a worn cell. If it smells of burnt plastic or the case is swollen, stop and dispose of it at a recycler.
How much run time should I expect from this 4.0 Ah pack?
We publish no runtime minutes and will not invent them. What we can state is the arithmetic: 21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh stored. Run time is that energy divided by the draw, and the draw changes between ECO, the everyday setting and MAX, with the motorised head, the floor type and how clean the filters are. Dyson publishes mode-by-mode runtimes per model — compare on those terms.
Is this a click-in or a screw-in V8 battery?
The V8 platform pack is screw-retained and reuses your original screws. The Type A click and Type B screw labels belong to the older 22.2 V DC31–DC45 handhelds. If you are deciding between the two styles, read click-in vs screw-in.
What happens if it is the wrong pack, and how do I claim?
Send it back: 30 day money back on the wrong fit, and a full 1 year warranty on failure. Orders are processed within 24 hours from Granville, Sydney, and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, tracked. Email info@aussiebatt.com with the order number, the model code and the fault, or read the return policy.
