Dyson SV10 Replacement Battery — 21.6 V, 4.0 Ah

SV10 is the model code Dyson prints on the machine; V8 is the name it is sold under. It is one platform and one pack: 21.6 volts, 4.0 Ah, Panasonic A grade 18650 cells, replacing code 214730-01 and the rest of the V8 code family. It lists at AU $70.99 and sells at AU $52.79 — the same price as our V8 page — shipped free from Granville, Sydney with a full 1 year warranty.

If your label says V8, buy the pack on our V8 page — same battery, same money.

Same pack as the V8 AussieBatt 21.6V 4.0Ah compatible replacement battery that fits the Dyson V8 and SV10 cordless vacuums, shown at its published product-photo size.

Charger needed?
No — your existing 21.6 V Dyson charger is used

SV10 and V8 are the same purchase. Dyson names the machine SV10 on the label and sells it as a V8 in the shop, so our two pages carry the identical pack, the identical 4.0 Ah capacity and the identical AU $52.79 price. Whichever word is on your machine, order once — and read which Dysons share a battery if the label says something else again.

SV10 battery price against Dyson Australia

Dyson Australia sells one genuine pack covering both V7 and V8 SKU codes. The SV10 sits inside that V8 group.

Buy it once, not twice

Because the SV10 and V8 pages describe the same battery, do not order both. Two packs of the same code will be treated as two sales, and the 30 day money back window is there for a genuine wrong fit rather than a duplicate. Every figure on this platform is compared side by side on the Dyson Australia price comparison.

What you get

Four things this pack restores to an SV10

4.0 Ah, 86.4 Wh

21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh of stored energy, the figure that governs how much cleaning comes out of one charge at a given mode and head.

Panasonic 18650 cells

Panasonic A grade 18650 cells with protection against over-current, short circuit and internal overheating, and 100 % QC of every battery before dispatch.

Orders are processed within 24 hours at Granville, NSW 2142, with most parcels arriving in 3–7 working days.

Support in Australia

In the box

What you receive

One battery pack and the screws already on your machine — no cutting, no drilling, no adapter, and the charger you own is the charger you keep. If the pre-motor filter is tired too, Dyson Australia lists the V7/V8 pre-filter at AU $35.00; wash and dry yours fully before you attribute a cut-out to the battery.

Extras such as a printed fitting card, spare screws or a filter are not published on our SV10 listing, so they are flagged rather than assumed: [CONFIRM what printed material ships in the SV10 box].

Fitting

Three steps, one screwdriver

The SV10 pack is screw-retained exactly like the V8. Photograph the label on the old battery before you remove it; that photo decides any future claim.

  1. 1
Three photographs showing a battery retaining screw being located and loosened on a cordless Dyson handle; the label in the photo reads SV03, an older handheld than the SV10.

    Loosen the retaining screws

Unplug the charger. The photo is our SV03 screw sequence and shows an SV03 label, but the screw-first method is identical on an SV10.

  2. 2
Collage showing an exhausted lithium pack lifted away from a cordless vacuum handle and a replacement pack lined up to the same mounting points.

    Swap the packs

Withdraw the old pack, line the replacement up to the same contacts and mounting points, and seat it squarely before tightening anything.

  3. 3
Photographs of a cordless vacuum on its wall charging dock with the charge indicator lit, then being used on a floor.

    Refit, charge, clean

Refit your own screws snugly without forcing plastic threads, then run a full charge on your original 21.6 V Dyson charger.

Stop if the old pack shows any of this

Swelling, discoloration, a burnt smell, a hard drop or a soak, or cells rattling loose inside the case. Do not charge it and never puncture it — take it to an Australian household-battery recycler.

Diagnosis

Why Dyson SV10 batteries fail on this platform

Same platform, same failure pattern

Everything written about the V8 applies here, because it is the same machine class: cells age through charge cycles, heat and flat storage, MAX mode shortens all three, and an SV10 kept in a hot laundry or a car loses capacity permanently. A blocked pre-motor filter or cyclone then produces cut-outs that look identical to a dead pack. Before you buy, clean the filters, clear the airway, let the machine cool for an hour and retest — then read the signs it is time to replace and the battery care guide.

Questions

Dyson SV10 battery questions, answered

Will fitting this SV10 battery void my Dyson warranty?

Most likely, yes, while the machine is inside Dyson's cover period — a third-party battery normally voids Dyson's cover on that machine. Our own limitation is published in full: our warranty does not extend to any products that are physically damaged or that are not under normal operating conditions as a result of misuse or improper installation on the buyer/user's part. See does it void my warranty.

Can I use the charger that came with the SV10?

Yes. This pack takes the same 21.6 V Dyson charger as the V8. Never substitute a charger of a different voltage; if yours is missing, see the charger page.

The pack is warm after use — is that a fault?

Mild warmth is normal, especially on MAX or with a motorised head on carpet. Too hot to hold, cut-outs that only clear after cooling, or a burnt smell is not normal — stop and contact us.

How long will my SV10 run on a charge?

We publish no runtime minutes and will not invent any. The arithmetic is 21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh of stored energy. Minutes are that energy divided by the machine's draw, and the draw changes hugely between ECO and MAX, with the head, the floor and how clean the filters are.

Do I need the V8 battery or the SV10 battery — and is it click-in or screw-in?

The same one: our V8 page and this SV10 page describe one 21.6 V 4.0 Ah pack on code 214730-01, at the same AU $52.79. Both are screw-retained and reuse your original screws. Type A click and Type B screw labels belong to the older 22.2 V DC31–DC45 range; read click-in vs screw-in if you are unsure.

How do delivery and a warranty claim work?

Orders are processed within 24 hours at Granville, Sydney and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, tracked, with the number emailed. Email info@aussiebatt.com with the order number, the model code and the fault; support runs Monday to Friday 9am–4pm. Wrong fit? Use the 30 day money back window — see returns.
