25.2 V platform · a different voltage from V6/V7/V8

Dyson V10 Series Battery Replacement

The V10 is the only platform in our range that changes the voltage: 25.2 V, identified by 206340 and 969352-02, with the SV12 machine code and Sony A grade 18650 cells. Our pack is AU $75.79 (list AU $98.99). It also has the messiest published specification — three different capacity readings exist across our own listings, so this page shows all three and tells you how to confirm yours before ordering instead of quietly picking one.

Dyson is a registered trade mark of Dyson Technology Ltd. AussieBatt supplies compatible replacement batteries and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Dyson.

Verdict

Which machines sit on the V10 battery platform

From the fit list on our V10 product page. If your machine is not on this list, do not assume the V10 name means the V10 pack.

Fits these models

  • V10, V10 Absolute, V10 Animal, V10 Fluffy, V10 Motorhead, V10 Total Clean
  • Cyclone V10 Absolute, Cyclone V10 Motorhead
  • SV12
  • Any machine whose old pack reads 25.2 V with code 206340 or 969352-02

Not for these

  • V6, V7, V8, SV10, SV11 — those are 21.6 V packs and different shells
  • DC31–DC45 handhelds — 22.2 V legacy
  • V10 Outsize — a larger pack we do not currently list
  • V11, V11 Outsize, V12, V15 Detect, Gen5 — outside our current range, see the V11/V12/V15 guide

Voltage is the hard boundary

25.2 V is not 21.6 V. Never charge or substitute across the two. A 21.6 V charger on a 25.2 V pack is the fastest way to destroy the protection circuit, and the 25.2 V pack will not seat in a V8 housing. If your label says 21.6 V, you are on the V7 or V8 platform, however much the machines resemble each other.

The capacity conflict

Three capacity readings for the V10 — all of them published

This is the honest state of our own listings. We are not averaging them and we are not picking the number that looks best.

What to do before you order. The pack we ship is decided by the part code, not by the headline number on this page — [CONFIRM which V10 pack you ship]. Email info@aussiebatt.com with the code on your old battery and the words "3.8 Ah or 4800 mAh?" and we will tell you which shell and capacity you will receive, in writing, before payment. The 3500 mAh reading on the 969352-02 page is the same part code as the V10 listing, which is exactly why we ask you to check rather than trust a single figure.

Why there is no "save AU $X versus Dyson" number here

Dyson Australia does not publish a battery list price for the V10 platform that we can verify, so we do not compute a saving for it. For context, the V10 pack sits at AU $75.79, and the 21.6 V platform packs are AU $46.79 to AU $52.79. Prices across the whole range, with the Dyson Australia figures we can source, are on the price comparison page.

Stored energy

What the V10 stores, on each reading

Energy is volts multiplied by amp-hours, so a 25.2 V pack wins on stored energy even at a modest amp-hour figure. At the 3.8 Ah reading the V10 stores 95.8 Wh; the 4800 mAh reading on the same page would put it at 121.0 Wh. Both bars are shown because we have not resolved the conflict, and the 21.6 V bar shows what you are comparing against on a V7 or V8.

The temperature windows printed on the V10 page matter as much as capacity in Australian summers: charge between 0 °C and 45 °C and discharge between −20 °C and 60 °C. A hot garage or a car boot in January can put a pack outside the charging window, which is why many "won't charge" calls in December are really temperature lock-outs — the V10 battery life guide covers how to cool and charge it properly.

Both V10 readings shown Watt-hour comparison for the Dyson V10 platform on each published capacity reading Three bars: the 21.6 V 4.0 Ah V7 and V8 pack stores 86.4 watt-hours, the V10 at the 3.8 Ah reading stores 95.8 watt-hours, and the V10 at the 4800 mAh reading stores 121.0 watt-hours. 86.4 Wh 95.8 Wh 121.0 Wh V7 / V8 4.0 Ah V10 at 3.8 Ah V10 at 4800 mAh arithmetic only - not a runtime figure
25.2 V × 3.8 Ah = 95.8 Wh; 25.2 V × 4.8 Ah = 121.0 Wh; 21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh.
Symptoms

Typical faults on the V10 platform

Higher voltage and a bigger motor mean the V10's faults are usually heat or airflow before they are cells.

V10 battery not charging

Check the room temperature and the dock light before anything else. Outside the 0–45 °C charging window the pack will simply refuse — the won't-charge diagnosis order walks the same lock-out logic for the legacy packs.

Runs five minutes then stops

Filter and airway first, then the pack. A V10 that recovers after an hour of cooling was overheating, not drained — the replacement signs list separates the two.

Runtime dropping every month

Lithium wear plus MAX-mode duty. How to extend V10 battery life covers mode choice, storage charge and calibration.

Photographs of a cordless Dyson docked on its wall charger with the charging indicator lit, then being used on a floor.
The V10 page publishes a 0–45 °C charging window, so a hot room or car boot can block charging before the cells are anywhere near empty.

Never do these to a 25.2 V pack

Do not charge it with a 21.6 V Dyson charger, do not charge a swollen or waterlogged pack, do not freezer-store it, and do not puncture it. Take an end-of-life pack to an Australian household-battery recycler.

Confirm the capacity in writing before you pay. The voltage is settled — 25.2 V — but the amp-hours are not, and a buyer who expects 4800 mAh and receives the 3.8 Ah shell will read that as a fault. Match the code on your old pack (206340 or 969352-02), ask us which reading applies, and keep the reply with your order number for warranty purposes.
