Dyson Battery Price Comparison Australia: Our Packs Against Dyson Australia's List Prices

Dyson Australia sells its own replacement battery for the V7 and V8 platform at AU $150.00, and its Type B handheld battery at AU $150.00 as well. The compatible equivalents on our store are AU $50.79, AU $52.79 and AU $42.79. This page puts both numbers, the subtraction and the percentage next to each other — and then tells you plainly what the smaller number does not buy you.

Dyson figures are Dyson Australia list prices read from dyson.com.au on 31 October 2026. Our figures are the "Now" price each aussiebatt.com listing publishes.

Method

How these numbers were assembled

We are not going to hide the working. Each row pairs one Dyson Australia part with the AussieBatt listing that covers the same machines, and the saving column shows the subtraction rather than a rounded marketing claim. Where Dyson Australia has not published a price for the corresponding part, the cell is left as a flagged placeholder instead of an estimate — a guessed competitor price is worse than no competitor price.

Only four rows on this page have a sourced Dyson Australia battery price, so only those four show a saving. The V10 has no Dyson Australia battery price in our reference set, so no V10 saving is calculated, and we say so in the table rather than leaving you to do the arithmetic on a blank cell.

OEM prices shown are Dyson Australia list prices for the corresponding genuine part, checked on dyson.com.au on 31 October 2026. Dyson changes prices and availability — confirm before relying on the saving figure.

Money is Australian dollars. Percentages are the saving divided by Dyson Australia's list price for that part, rounded to the nearest whole per cent. Capacities and voltages are the published figures from each of our own listings.

The DC35 Type B row compares our AU $42.79 Type B pack with Dyson's AU $150.00 Type B part 967861-04; the subtraction and the 71 % figure are arithmetic performed here on those two published prices, not a figure Dyson or AussieBatt publishes.

Compare like with like, by part number. Dyson's AU $150.00 V7/V8 part 972237-01 is official for five V8 SKUs and three V7 SKUs only. If your machine's SKU is outside that list, the Dyson price in the table is not the part Dyson would sell you, and the saving figure stops being meaningful — check your own label with the finder before quoting the percentage at anyone.

The honest half

What the lower price does not include

A compatible pack is a different product with a different support model, and pretending otherwise is how battery sellers lose customers. Here is the complete list of things you give up when you spend AU $46.79 instead of AU $150.00.

Not included

  • No Dyson brand on the shell. It is an AussieBatt pack, not a Dyson part, and it carries no Dyson marking.
  • Not serviced by Dyson. A Dyson store or Dyson support line will not troubleshoot or replace our pack; we handle it.
  • Warranty is ours, not Dyson's: 1 year from AussieBatt plus 30 day money back, by email to info@aussiebatt.com, Monday–Friday 9am–4pm.
  • Fitting any third-party battery to a machine still inside Dyson's warranty period will normally void Dyson's cover on that machine. If yours is still covered, claim through Dyson first — see does it void my warranty?
  • No Dyson accessory bundle priced in. Dyson Australia sells the matching pre-filter at AU $35.00 and the charger at AU $40.00; our comparison is battery against battery.
  • Our published warranty wording applies unchanged: "Our warranty does not extend to any products that are physically damaged or that are not under normal operating conditions as a result of misuse or improper installation on the buyer/user's part."

What you do get

  • 100 % compatibility with the original fitting for the platform named on the page — your existing Dyson charger stays in service.
  • A grade Sony or Panasonic 18650 lithium cells, with protection against over-current, short circuit and internal overheating.
  • FCC, CE and RoHS certification, and 100 % QC on every battery before dispatch.
  • A full 1 year warranty and a 30 day money back window, handled in Australia by us.
  • Free Australia Post shipping, orders processed within 24 hours from Granville, Sydney, most parcels in 3–7 working days with tracking emailed.
  • The same energy on paper for the V7 and V8 rows: 21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh.

Our own wording, quoted so nothing is dressed up

The product pages on aussiebatt.com describe the packs as "100% compatible with original" and say a well-built replacement "may exceed the performance of OEM", and Grade-A cell sourcing. Those are our published claims about the parts we sell. They are not Dyson endorsements, and we do not print test results, run times in minutes, review scores or customer counts behind them, because we have not published any.

Why it costs less

Why a compatible pack is cheaper, without the hand-waving

AussieBatt is a battery distributor, wholesale and retail, selling laptop, power tool and vacuum replacements from one Sydney warehouse. That business model is structurally cheaper than the one behind an AU $150.00 part, and the difference is mostly not the cells.

Direct distribution

One warehouse, one seller, one parcel to your door. No brand retail network, service book or parts counter overhead is folded into the price of a compatible pack.

The same cell families

Our listings name A grade Sony or Panasonic 18650 cells. The economics of buying cells in bulk volumes for many device types is the reason a distributor can quote AU $50.79 for a pack a brand quotes AU $150.00 for.

No brand premium

You are not paying for the Dyson name, its design language or its warranty infrastructure. Some customers will always want the brand, and should buy it; the rest of us can spend AU $99.21 on something else.

Wholesale habits

We sell in volume to government departments, schools, universities and small businesses, and publish bulk-buy savings up to 50 % on wholesale lines. Retail vacuum packs ride on that same supply chain.

Price questions

Dyson battery pricing in Australia: common questions

Is an AU $46.79 Dyson battery safe to put in my machine?

It is safe provided the platform matches the code on your label. Price is not the safety variable — voltage, capacity, connector and cell protection are. Our packs use A grade Sony or Panasonic 18650 lithium cells with over-current, short-circuit and overheat protection, and each listing names the voltage and amp-hours it is built to.

Why is your SV11 price higher than your V7 price for the same pack?

Because both readings are live on our store. The SV11 page sells the 21.6 V 4.0 Ah pack at AU $79.49 while the V7 page sells the same shell at AU $50.79. We publish both rather than averaging them; ask us which applies before you pay.

Do you discount against the Dyson price, or match it if I find it cheaper?

We do not operate a price-matching scheme against Dyson Australia, and we do not pretend to. Our prices are the ones each listing shows, with the struck-through figure being that listing's own list price.

What is the real cost of a Dyson repair if the battery is not the fault?

Check the cheap things first. Dyson Australia lists the pre-filter at AU $35.00 and the charger at AU $40.00, and both failures imitate a flat battery. A wash-and-dry filter and a cleared airway fix a surprising number of "my Dyson dies after two minutes" tickets for free — the symptom checklist is the place to start.

Is buying a second-hand Dyson cheaper than replacing the battery?

Usually not, and it throws away working hardware. A replacement pack is AU $36.79 to AU $75.79 depending on platform, while the stick you would replace it with costs a multiple of that. Dyson's own 250 mm motorhead alone is AU $164.00 in the parts list above.
