V7 and V6 are not the same pack. Both are 21.6 V, which is exactly why owners mix them up. The codes differ (968670-02 for V7, 965874-02 for V6) and our listing says in writing that this pack is not fit for V6, V8 or SV07. Match the code on your own battery.

Read the Dyson compatibility line before you copy it
Dyson publishes part 972237-01 as "compatible with below skus only": V7 419671-01, 419672-01, 419667-01 and V8 394437-01, 394441-01, 400392-01, 400393-01, 419680-01. One genuine part covers two platforms, but our replacement packs are built per platform — the V7 pack is not the V8 pack. That is why we publish separate pages: V8 replacement battery and Dyson SV11 battery price.
Four reasons owners pick this pack for a V7
4.0 Ah, 86.4 Wh
21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh of stored energy, which is the figure that governs how long a clean lasts once the mode, head and filters are fixed.
LED charge lights
The lights on the casing show how much charge is left without docking the machine — useful when the vacuum is stored away from its charger.
Sony cells, protected
Sony A grade 18650 lithium cells with protection against over-current, short circuit and internal overheating, and 100 % QC of every battery before dispatch.
Tracked, free, fast to process
Orders are processed within 24 hours at Granville, NSW 2142 and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, fully tracked.
What you receive
One battery pack, and the screws you already own. Nothing needs cutting, drilling or adapting, and your existing 21.6 V charger is the one you keep. Dyson Australia lists the V7/V8 genuine pack at AU $150.00 and a pre-filter at AU $35.00, so if the filter is due too, budget for both.
Extras such as a printed fitting card, spare screws or a filter are not published on our live V7 listing, so they are flagged rather than assumed: [CONFIRM what printed material ships in the V7 box].
Three steps and one screwdriver
The V7 pack is screw-retained to the handle. Photograph the label on the old battery before you remove it — that photo is your proof if you ever need to claim.
-
1

Undo the retaining screws
Unplug the charger first. The photo here is from our SV03 screw-in sequence — the same retained-screw principle applies to the V7 pack.
-
2

Swap the packs
Slide the old pack away, line the new one up to the same mounting points and contacts, and seat it squarely before anything is tightened.
-
3

Refit, charge, clean
Refit your screws snugly — do not force plastic threads — then charge on your original Dyson charger. The LED lights tell you when it is ready.
Stop if the old pack shows any of this
A swollen or discoloured case, a burnt smell, a pack that has been dropped hard or soaked, or cells rattling loose inside. Do not charge it and never puncture it. Take it to an Australian household-battery recycler.
Why Dyson V7 batteries fail on this platform
Heat, cycles and the mode switch
The V7 is a trigger-held machine, so owners run it harder and longer than most sticks, and MAX mode draws far more current than ECO. That is the combination that ages lithium cells fastest, along with a pack left flat in a hot cupboard over an Australian summer. If the charge light never changes, the runtime has halved, or the machine shuts down and restarts only after cooling, start with the V7 not-holding-charge diagnosis and the replacement decision list. Blocked filters and a choked cyclone imitate a dead cell exactly. When you keep a V7 switched off for weeks, store it at roughly 40–50 % charge, 15–25 °C — our published advice on the V7 Animal listing — and run a cycle every 2–3 weeks.
Dyson V7 battery questions, answered
Will fitting this V7 battery void my Dyson warranty?
Most likely, yes, while the machine is still inside Dyson's cover period — fitting any third-party battery normally voids Dyson's cover on that machine. Claim through Dyson first if you can. Our own limitation is published in full: our warranty does not extend to any products that are physically damaged or that are not under normal operating conditions as a result of misuse or improper installation on the buyer/user's part. See does it void my warranty.
Can I keep using my original Dyson V7 charger?
Yes. This pack charges on the same 21.6 V Dyson charger as the original. A lost or faulty charger is the only reason to buy one — see the charger page. Never substitute a charger of another voltage.
Should the V7 pack get hot during use?
Mild warmth after a long clean, especially on MAX, is normal. A pack too hot to hold, one that triggers cut-outs that only clear after cooling, or any burnt smell is not normal — stop and contact us. The battery care guide covers filters, storage and charging habits.
How long will it run on a charge?
We publish no runtime minutes, and we will not invent any. The honest number is the stored energy: 21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh. Actual minutes are that energy divided by the machine's draw, which changes hugely between ECO and MAX, with the motorised head, the floor and the condition of the filters. Dyson publishes mode-by-mode runtimes per model, so use those as the reference.
Is this the click-in pack or the screw-in pack?
The V7 pack is the screw-retained type, clamped to the handle with your original screws. The Type A click and Type B screw labels belong to Dyson's older 22.2 V handhelds. Our V7 listing is explicit that it is not fit for V6, V8 or SV07. Read click-in vs screw-in if you are unsure which style you have.
How do delivery and a warranty claim work?
Orders are processed within 24 hours at our Granville, Sydney warehouse and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, tracked, with the number emailed. To claim, email info@aussiebatt.com with your order number, the model code and the fault; support runs Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm. Wrong fit? The 30 day money back window applies — see returns.
