Dyson V7 Animal Replacement Battery — 21.6 V, 4.0 Ah, 7INR19/66-1

This is the pack our shop lists specifically for the Dyson V7 Animal, built to the 7INR19/66-1 pack designation at 21.6 volts and 4.0 Ah on Sony A grade 18650 cells. It lists at AU $70.99 and sells at AU $50.79, shipped free from our Granville, Sydney warehouse with a full 1 year warranty. The listing itself carries an important warning we are repeating in full, because it is the kind of note buyers should not have to hunt for: "specifically designed for Animal models. Not compatible with V6, V8, V10 or non-Dyson V7 models."

86.4 Wh of stored energy on the arithmetic — 21.6 V × 4.0 Ah.

V7 Animal battery price against Dyson Australia

Dyson Australia sells one genuine pack that covers both V7 and V8 machines — part 972237-01 — and publishes it at AU $150.00. Our V7 Animal listing is priced from that same Dyson figure in the table below.

Read the Dyson compatibility line before you copy it

Dyson publishes part 972237-01 as "compatible with below skus only": V7 419671-01, 419672-01, 419667-01 and V8 394437-01, 394441-01, 400392-01, 400393-01, 419680-01. One genuine part covers two platforms, but our replacement packs are published per model, which is why the Animal listing warns it is not compatible with V6, V8, V10 or non-Dyson V7 models. Our V8 pack lives on its own page: replacement battery for Dyson V8 Animal.

About the "12 % higher capacity than original" line. That sentence is our listing's own marketing wording, quoted here because you will see it on the product page. We are not restating it as a measured or verified fact: aussiebatt.com publishes no laboratory capacity test and no runtime minutes for any battery. What we can state is the specification on the listing — 21.6 V, 4.0 Ah, 86.4 Wh of stored energy by arithmetic — and what we cannot state honestly, we do not print.

What you get

Four things this pack puts back into a V7 Animal

The Animal spec is the one owners run hardest — pet hair on carpet, motorised head engaged, MAX used more often than on a Fluffy. That is precisely the duty that ages a pack, so capacity and protection matter more here.

4.0 Ah, 86.4 Wh

21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh of stored energy on the listing's specification — the figure that governs run length once mode, head and filters are fixed.

Sony A grade 18650

Sony A grade 18650 lithium cells with protection against over-current, short circuit and internal overheating, and 100 % QC of every battery before dispatch.

Animal-specific fit

Listed under the 7INR19/66-1 designation for the V7 Animal, with the compatibility limits stated on the listing rather than buried in an email reply.

Tracked, free, quick to process

Orders are processed within 24 hours at Granville, NSW 2142 and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, fully tracked.

Fitting

Three steps and one screwdriver

The V7 pack is screw-retained to the handle, and you reuse the screws you already own. Photograph the label on the old battery before removing it: on this platform that label is what distinguishes a V7 Animal pack from a V6 pack at a glance.

  1. 1
Three photographs showing where the battery retaining screw sits on a cordless Dyson handle whose label reads SV03, and how the screw is loosened.

    Undo the retaining screws

Unplug the charger first. The photo is from our SV03 screw-in sequence, but the retained-screw principle is the same on a V7 pack — loosen, keep the screws, do not lose the washers.

  2. 2
Collage showing a depleted cordless vacuum battery lifted from the handle and a new lithium replacement pack lined up with the same mounting points and contacts.

    Swap the packs

Slide the old pack away, line the new one up to the same mounting points and contacts, and seat it squarely before anything is tightened.

  3. 3
Photographs of a cordless Dyson on its wall charging dock with the charge indicator lit, then being used on a carpet.

    Refit, charge, clean

Refit your screws snugly — never force plastic threads — then charge on your original 21.6 V Dyson charger before the first clean.

Stop if the old pack shows any of this

A swollen or discoloured case, a burnt smell, a pack that has been soaked or dropped hard, or cells rattling loose inside. Do not charge it and never puncture it — take it to an Australian household-battery recycler and order a replacement instead.

Diagnosis

Why V7 Animal batteries fail early

Trigger-held, MAX-happy, and stored in the wrong place

The V7 is a trigger-held machine, so owners run it harder and longer per session than most sticks, and MAX mode draws far more current than ECO — that combination ages lithium cells faster than almost anything else. Add pet hair, which blocks filtration sooner, and the Animal spec fails on both fronts at once. Two free checks first: wash and fully dry the filter, and clear the cyclone and airway, because a blockage makes the machine overheat and cut out in a way that looks exactly like a dead pack. If the run time is still short after an hour's cooling, work through the signs it is time to replace the battery and the diagnosis order in the V7 not-holding-charge guide. For the habits that keep the replacement alive, our Animal listing publishes the advice we consider worth repeating: store at 40–50 % charge in a cool, dry place at 15–25 °C, run a cycle every 2–3 weeks if the machine sits idle, never freezer-store a pack, and calibrate an odd fuel gauge with a full charge, a full discharge and a second full charge. Extending V7 run time and the battery care guide cover the rest.

Questions

Dyson V7 Animal battery questions, answered

Is this the same battery as the standard Dyson V7 pack?

Same platform and same specification on paper — 21.6 V, 4.0 Ah, 86.4 Wh — but our Animal listing carries its own compatibility note: "specifically designed for Animal models. Not compatible with V6, V8, V10 or non-Dyson V7 models." We repeat that note rather than blur it, so if your machine is a V7 Fluffy, V7 Extra, V7 Motorhead or V7 Trigger, order from the standard V7 replacement battery page (codes 968670-02 / 225403, AU $50.79) instead. Both pages are on the V7 platform, and our V7 listing also warns it is not fit for V6, V8 or SV07.

Can I keep using my original Dyson V7 charger?

Yes. This pack charges on the same 21.6 V Dyson charger as the original, the charger our listings cover as "Battery Charger For 21.6V Dyson DC58 DC59 DC61 V6 V7 V8". Never substitute a 22.2 V legacy charger or a 25.2 V V10 charger. Dyson Australia lists its own charger at AU $40.00; ours are on the charger page.

Should the V7 Animal pack get hot during a clean?

Mild warmth after a long session, especially on MAX, is normal. A pack too hot to hold, one that causes cut-outs clearing only after cooling, swelling, discolouration or any burnt smell is not — stop, unplug and contact us rather than putting it back on the charger. On a pet-hair machine, a blocked filter is the other common cause of both heat and short running, so check it as well; the battery care guide covers the routine.

How long will it run on one charge — and what does "12 % higher capacity" mean?

We publish no runtime minutes on aussiebatt.com for any battery and we will not invent any here, so there is no minute figure on this page. The "12 % higher capacity than original" sentence is our listing's own marketing wording, quoted as theirs rather than restated as a measurement — we publish no lab test. The honest number is stored energy from the specification: 21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh. Actual minutes are that energy divided by the machine's draw, which changes hugely between ECO and MAX, with the motorised head, the floor and the condition of the filters. Use Dyson's published mode-by-mode runtimes for minutes.

Will fitting this battery void my Dyson warranty?

Most likely, yes, while the machine is still inside Dyson's cover period — fitting any third-party battery normally voids Dyson's cover on that machine, so claim through Dyson first if you can. Our own limitation is published in full: our warranty does not extend to any products that are physically damaged or that are not under normal operating conditions as a result of misuse or improper installation on the buyer/user's part. See does it void my warranty for the detail.

How do delivery and a warranty claim work?

Orders are processed within 24 hours at our Granville, Sydney warehouse and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, fully tracked via Australia Post with the number emailed. To claim on the full 1 year warranty, email info@aussiebatt.com with your order number, the model code off the machine and a short description of the fault; support runs Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm. If it turns out to be the wrong fit, the 30 day money back window applies — see our return policy.
