What you receive
One battery pack and the fittings you already own. Nothing on the machine needs cutting, drilling or adapting, and your existing 21.6 V charger is the one you keep. Dyson Australia lists a genuine V6/V7/V8 pre-filter at AU $35.00 if yours is tired — but wash and fully dry the one you have before you blame the battery.

Three steps, no tools needed for the pack itself
The V6 battery is a slide-in pack with a release catch. Take a photo of the old battery label before you pull it out — that photo is your proof if you ever need to claim.

Release the old pack
Unplug the charger. Press the release catch and slide the depleted battery away from the handle or body.

Fit the replacement
Line up the contacts, push home until it seats fully and the catch clicks. If it needs force, it is the wrong pack.

Charge, then clean
Use your original 21.6 V Dyson charger. New packs arrive partly charged; run a full charge before the first long clean so the fuel gauge settles.
Stop if the old pack shows any of this
A swollen or discoloured case, a burnt smell, a pack that has been dropped hard or soaked, or cells rattling loose inside. Do not charge it and never puncture it. Take it to an Australian household-battery recycler — most councils and large retailers run drop-off points.
Why Dyson V6 batteries fail on this platform
Three things finish an original V6 pack
Most V6 packs still in service are original build. Charge cycles, heat and deep discharge are what kill them: a pack left flat in a hot cupboard over winter can refuse to wake up, and MAX mode speeds all three up because it draws far more current than ECO. Blocked filters and a choked cyclone produce cut-outs that look identical to a dead cell, so check the signs it is time to replace and store a spare at roughly 40 % charge, cool and dry — never in a freezer.

Will fitting this battery void my Dyson warranty?
Most likely, yes, if the machine is still inside Dyson's cover period. Fitting any third-party battery will normally void Dyson's cover on that machine, and we would rather say it than have you discover it later. If your V6 is still covered, claim through Dyson first. Our own terms are published in full: our warranty does not extend to any products that are physically damaged or that are not under normal operating conditions as a result of misuse or improper installation on the buyer/user's part. Can I keep using my original Dyson V6 charger?
Yes. This pack takes the same 21.6 V charger as the original, so a lost or faulty charger is the only reason to buy one — see the charger page. Never substitute a charger of a different voltage.
Is it normal for the battery to get hot while vacuuming?
Mild warmth after a long clean is normal, especially on MAX. A pack that is too hot to hold, that shuts the machine down and will not restart until it cools, or that smells of burnt plastic is not normal — stop and contact us. A blocked filter and hot storage are the usual suspects; the care guide covers both.
How many minutes will I actually get?
We do not print a minute figure for this pack, because aussiebatt.com publishes no runtime minutes and we will not invent one. The honest arithmetic is 21.6 V × 4.0 Ah = 86.4 Wh of stored energy. Real run time is that energy divided by what the machine draws, and the draw changes hugely between ECO and MAX, with the head, the floor and how clean the filters are.
Is this a Type A click-in or a Type B screw-in pack?
Neither. The Type A and Type B labels belong to Dyson's older 22.2 V handheld range (DC34, DC35, DC44, DC45). The V6 platform uses a slide-in pack with a release catch. For a legacy handheld, use the 22.2 V DC35 page and read click-in vs screw-in.
