Charger needed?
No — your existing 21.6 V Dyson charger is used

Your machine may be labelled V6, not DC61. Dyson re-badged this generation as the V6, so both names point at one platform, and our part-code page headlines exactly that: "Dyson V6 21.6V 3.0Ah Battery SV03 SV04 SV09 DC58 DC59 DC61 DC62 DC72". That single headline is the fit list — if your model appears in it, this pack is the right family for you.

Two code spellings on our own site. Our DC61 and SV03 pages list the replaced codes as 965874-02, 967819-02, 61034-01 and 61034-06, while the 61034-01 page headline adds 967810-21 — one digit apart from 967819-02. We have published the four codes our own product pages state and flagged the headline code for checking: [CONFIRM DC61 part code list]

DC61 battery price against Dyson Australia

Dyson Australia sells the genuine battery for this platform as the V6 replacement battery, listed under V6, DC59 and DC58 support parts at AU $150.00. A DC61 owner is buying from that same parts family.

Why we publish per-model pages at one price

Dyson sells one part across many retail names; we publish a page per name so an owner searching "DC61 battery" finds the right fit list and code, not a generic V6 page. The pack and the price are the same either way — AU $45.79 for 3.0 Ah, or AU $46.79 for the larger 4.0 Ah version on the Dyson V6 replacement battery page.

What you get

Four things this pack restores to a DC61

3.0 Ah, 64.8 Wh

21.6 V × 3.0 Ah = 64.8 Wh of stored energy, shown as arithmetic from published figures rather than a claim about minutes.

Panasonic cells, protected

Panasonic A grade 18650 cells with protection against over-current, short circuit and internal overheating, and 100 % QC of every battery before dispatch.

Matched by code

Order against 61034-01 and the three related codes, and the fitting, the contacts and the charger are all settled before the parcel moves.

Australian warranty handling

Full 1 year warranty and 30 day money back, managed from Granville on info@aussiebatt.com, Monday to Friday 9am–4pm.

Fitting

Three steps, tools only if yours is screw-retained

Photograph the label on the old battery first — it is how you confirm the code, and it is your proof if you claim.

  1. 1
Three photographs showing a slide-in cordless vacuum battery aligned to a Dyson handle, pushed home until it seats, and locked with the release catch.

    Release the old pack

Unplug the charger, press the release catch and slide the depleted battery away from the handle.

  2. 2
Collage showing a worn cordless vacuum battery lifted away from a Dyson handle and a replacement lithium pack lined up to the same contacts.

    Seat the replacement

Line up the contacts, push it home until the catch engages and the pack cannot move under light pressure.

  3. 3
Three photographs showing where a battery retaining screw sits on a cordless Dyson handle and how it is loosened; the battery label in the photo reads SV03.

If yours is held by screws

Later machines in this family, such as the SV03 shown here, use retaining screws. Undo them, swap the pack and refit your own screws without forcing plastic threads.

Stop if the old pack shows any of this

A swollen or discoloured case, a burnt smell, a pack that has been soaked or dropped hard, or cells rattling loose inside. Do not charge it and never puncture it. Take it to an Australian household-battery recycler.

Diagnosis

Why DC61 and V6-platform batteries fail

Three things finish an original pack

Charge cycles, heat and deep discharge. A DC61 left flat in a hot cupboard ages faster than one used weekly and stored partly charged, and MAX mode speeds all three up because it draws far more current than ECO. The imitation fault is airflow: a blocked pre-filter or choked cyclone makes the machine strain, overheat and cut out — indistinguishable from a tired cell until you clean it. Wash and fully dry the filter and check the signs it is time to replace the battery before ordering. Storage: 40–50 % charge, 15–25 °C, cool and dry, never a freezer, with a full cycle every 2–3 weeks.

Questions

Dyson DC61 battery questions, answered

Is this a Type A click-in or a Type B screw-in pack?

Neither. Those labels belong to Dyson's 22.2 V legacy handhelds — DC34, DC35, DC44, DC45 — where choosing wrongly is the usual mistake. The DC61 is a 21.6 V V6-platform pack with 61034-01 family codes: slide-in with a catch on most machines, screw-retained on some. If yours came out with a screwdriver, read click-in versus screw-in; if your machine is 22.2 V, use the DC35 page.

What voltage charger does the DC61 need?

21.6 V — the same Dyson charger the machine shipped with, the charger our site lists for 21.6 V DC58, DC59, DC61, V6, V7 and V8 machines. Never substitute another voltage: the 22.2 V legacy charger and the 25.2 V V10 charger are different supplies and will not charge this pack safely. Replacement options are on the Dyson charger page; Dyson Australia lists its own at AU $40.00.

Will fitting this battery void my Dyson warranty?

Most likely, yes, while the machine is inside Dyson's cover period — any third-party battery normally voids Dyson's cover on that machine, so claim through Dyson first if you can. Our own limitation is published in full: our warranty does not extend to any products that are physically damaged or that are not under normal operating conditions as a result of misuse or improper installation on the buyer/user's part. See does it void my warranty.

How long will it run on a full charge?

We publish no runtime minutes for any battery and will not invent any. The honest figure is stored energy: 21.6 V × 3.0 Ah = 64.8 Wh. Minutes are that energy divided by the draw, which changes hugely between ECO and MAX, with the motorised head fitted, the floor and the condition of the filters. If you want more energy on the same fitting, our V6 page sells a 4.0 Ah (86.4 Wh) pack.

The pack gets hot. Is that a safety problem?

Mild warmth after a long clean is normal, especially on MAX. Too hot to hold, cut-outs that clear only after cooling, a burnt smell, or a case that is swollen or discoloured is not — stop using the machine and contact us. Check the filter and cyclone too, since a blockage produces heat and short run time together. The battery care guide covers charging habits and cleaning intervals.

How do delivery and a warranty claim work?

Orders are processed within 24 hours at our Granville, Sydney warehouse and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, tracked, with the number emailed. For a claim, email info@aussiebatt.com with your order number, the code on the old battery and the fault — Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm. Wrong fit? The 30 day money back window applies; see our return policy.
