Charger needed?
No — your existing 21.6 V Dyson charger is used

Order on the code, not the model name. "DC58", "V6" and "SV03" are different names for one 21.6 V platform, sold here in two capacities — 3.0 Ah on this page and 4.0 Ah on our V6 page. Read the label on your existing pack, match the code, then match the capacity.

DC58 battery price against Dyson Australia

Dyson Australia prices the V6-family battery as a single support part, listed under the V6, DC59 and DC58 parts pages. Below is that published price next to ours, plus the other V6-platform parts a DC58 owner does not need.

Why the gap exists

We are a battery distributor, not a vacuum brand. The pack is built from grade-A Panasonic 18650 cells and sold at a distributor price with no vacuum-maker markup on the part, which is the whole reason the same 21.6 V 3.0 Ah capacity is AU $45.79 here and AU $150.00 from Dyson. Compare every platform on the Dyson Australia price comparison.

What you get

Four things this pack puts back into a DC58

The DC58 is the workhorse end of the V6 family: whole-floor cleaning on a motorised head, which is the hardest duty a small lithium pack gets.

3.0 Ah, 64.8 Wh

21.6 V × 3.0 Ah = 64.8 Wh of stored energy — arithmetic from published figures, and the number that governs how long a clean runs once mode, head and filters are fixed.

Panasonic cells, protected

Panasonic A grade 18650 lithium cells with protection against over-current, short circuit and internal overheating, and 100 % QC of every battery before dispatch.

Free, tracked, quick to process

Orders are processed within 24 hours at Granville, NSW 2142 and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, fully tracked, with the number emailed.

Warranty handled in Australia

Full 1 year warranty and 30 day money back if the fit is wrong, dealt with by our own team on info@aussiebatt.com, Monday to Friday 9am–4pm.

Fitting

Three steps, and no tools on the click-in style

The DC58 uses the slide-in pack with a release catch that the whole V6 family shares. Photograph the label on the old battery before you pull it out — that photo settles the code question and is your proof if you claim.

  1. 1
Three photographs showing a slide-in cordless vacuum battery aligned to the handle, pushed home until it seats, and locked with the release catch.

    Release the old pack

Unplug the charger first. Press the release catch and slide the depleted battery away from the handle.

  2. 2
Collage showing a worn cordless vacuum battery lifted away from a Dyson handle and a replacement lithium pack lined up to the same contacts.

    Seat the replacement

Line the new pack up to the same contacts, push it home until it is fully seated and the catch engages. If it needs force, it is the wrong pack.

  3. 3
Three photographs showing where a battery retaining screw sits on a cordless Dyson handle and how it is loosened; the battery label in the photo reads SV03.

    If yours is screw-retained

Some later handhelds in this family, such as the SV03 shown here, are held by screws. Undo them, swap the pack, refit your own screws snugly without forcing plastic threads, then charge.

Stop if the old pack shows any of this

A swollen or discoloured case, a burnt smell, a pack that has been soaked or dropped hard, or cells rattling loose inside. Do not charge it and never puncture it. Take it to an Australian household-battery recycler — most councils and large retailers run drop-off points.

Diagnosis

Why DC58 and V6-platform batteries fail

Heat, flat storage, MAX mode — and blocked airflow

Lithium cells age fastest through heat and deep discharge. A DC58 left flat in a cupboard through an Australian summer, or run down on MAX every session, loses capacity well before the motor wears out, because MAX draws far more current than ECO. The other classic DC58 fault is not electrical: a blocked pre-filter or choked cyclone restricts airflow, the machine overheats and cuts out in a way that looks exactly like a dead cell. Wash and fully dry the filter, clear the airway, let it cool and retest before you spend anything.

Photographs of a cordless vacuum dust bin and cyclone being wiped clear of dust, with the filter lifted out for washing.

Check how to tell if your Dyson battery is dead before buying, and work through the not-holding-charge diagnosis if the pack will not take a charge at all. For storage, keep the pack at roughly 40–50 % charge, 15–25 °C, cool and dry — never in a freezer — and run a full cycle every 2–3 weeks.

Questions

Dyson DC58 battery questions, answered

Is this a Type A click-in or a Type B screw-in pack?

Neither label applies. Type A and Type B belong to Dyson's older 22.2 V handhelds — DC34, DC35, DC44 and DC45. The DC58 is a 21.6 V V6-platform pack: slide-in with a release catch on most machines, screw-retained on some later handhelds. If you have a 22.2 V machine instead, use the DC35 Type A or Type B page, and read click-in versus screw-in.

Can I keep using my original DC58 charger?

Yes. It charges on the same 21.6 V Dyson charger as the original — the charger our site lists for 21.6 V DC58, DC59, DC61, V6, V7 and V8 machines. Never substitute a charger of another voltage: the 22.2 V legacy charger is a different supply. If yours is lost or faulty, see the Dyson charger page; Dyson Australia lists its own at AU $40.00.

Will fitting this battery void my Dyson warranty?

Most likely, yes, while the machine is inside Dyson's cover period — any third-party battery normally voids Dyson's cover on that machine, so claim through Dyson first. Our own limitation is published in full: our warranty does not extend to any products that are physically damaged or that are not under normal operating conditions as a result of misuse or improper installation on the buyer/user's part. See does it void my warranty.

How long will it run on a full charge?

We publish no runtime minutes for any battery on this site, and we will not invent any. The honest figure is stored energy: 21.6 V × 3.0 Ah = 64.8 Wh. Minutes are that energy divided by the machine's draw, which changes hugely between ECO and MAX, with the motorised head fitted, the floor surface and the condition of the filters. Dyson publishes mode-by-mode runtimes per model, so use those as the reference.

Is it normal for the pack to run hot?

Mild warmth after a long clean, especially in MAX, is normal. Too hot to hold, cut-outs that clear only after cooling, or any burnt smell is not — stop and contact us. On a DC58, check the filter and cyclone too, because a blockage produces both heat and short run time. The battery care guide covers cleaning intervals and charging habits.

How do delivery and a warranty claim work?

Orders are processed within 24 hours at our Granville, Sydney warehouse and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, tracked, with the number emailed. For a claim, email info@aussiebatt.com with your order number, the model code, a photo of the old battery label and the fault — support runs Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm. Wrong fit? The 30 day money back window applies; see our return policy.
