Dyson DC62 Replacement Battery — 21.6 V, 3000 mAh

Our DC62 listing is a Li-ion 21.6 V, 3000 mAh pack weighing 340 g for the DC62, DC62 Animal and DC62 Animal Pro — the same handheld platform as the V6 range, so the 61034-01 family codes and the SV03 fit list all apply. It shows Reg AU $83.10, Sale AU $75.55 on our DC62 page, shipped free from Granville, Sydney with a full 1 year warranty.

3000 mAh is 3.0 Ah — the smaller capacity we sell for this platform, with a 4.0 Ah version on our V6 page.

Charger needed?
No — your existing 21.6 V Dyson charger is used

Buy by the label, not the animal badge. "Animal", "Animal Pro" and the plain DC62 are all the same 21.6 V platform; the animal versions differ in the cleaner head, not the battery. What does vary is capacity — 3000 mAh here, 4.0 Ah on our V6 page — so read the Ah or mAh printed on your own pack before ordering.

DC62 battery price against Dyson Australia

Dyson Australia sells the genuine battery for this platform as the V6 replacement battery, listed under V6, DC59 and DC58 support parts at AU $150.00 — a DC62 owner is buying inside that same parts family.

OEM prices shown are Dyson Australia list prices for the corresponding genuine part, checked on dyson.com.au on 31 October 2026. Dyson changes prices and availability — confirm before relying on the saving figure. The difference column is subtraction between two published prices, not a quote and not a lab result.

Same cells, two shop-front prices

The DC62 and the V6-platform listings describe one physical pack, and our two price formats disagree — AU $75.55 here against AU $45.79 elsewhere. If the cheaper reading is what you should be charged, ask us before you order and we will confirm the live price and the delivery time. Our Dyson battery range page shows every listing as published.

What you get

Four things worth knowing about this pack

3000 mAh, 64.8 Wh

21.6 V × 3.0 Ah = 64.8 Wh of stored energy — arithmetic from our published figures, labelled as arithmetic, not a runtime promise.

Protected, quality-checked

Lithium-ion 18650 cells with protection against over-current, short circuit and internal overheating, plus 100 % QC of every battery before dispatch.

340 g, free tracked post

A 340 g pack matters on a handheld you hold above your head. Orders are processed within 24 hours and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days.

Warranty handled in Australia

1 year warranty and 30 day money back, dealt with from Granville on info@aussiebatt.com, Monday to Friday 9am–4pm.

Fitting

Three steps on the DC62 handheld

Photograph the label on the old pack before removing it — it confirms the code and is your proof if you claim.

  1. 1
Three photographs showing a slide-in cordless vacuum battery aligned to a Dyson handle, pushed home until it seats, and locked with the release catch.

    Release the old pack

Unplug the charger, press the release catch and slide the depleted battery away from the handle.

  2. 2
Three photographs showing where a battery retaining screw sits on a cordless Dyson handle and how it is loosened; the battery label in the photo reads SV03.

Undo screws if you have them

Handhelds in this family are often screw-retained, like the SV03 shown here. Loosen them, keep your original screws, and note which way the pack sits.

  3. 3
Collage showing a worn cordless vacuum battery lifted away from a Dyson handle and a replacement lithium pack lined up to the same contacts.

    Fit, charge, clean

Seat the new pack on the same contacts, refit your screws snugly without forcing plastic threads, then charge on your original 21.6 V charger.

Stop if the old pack shows any of this

A swollen or discoloured case, a burnt smell, a pack that has been soaked or dropped hard, or cells rattling loose inside. Do not charge it and never puncture it. Take it to an Australian household-battery recycler.

Diagnosis

Why DC62 and V6-platform batteries fail

Handheld duty, MAX mode and blocked airflow

The DC62 Animal is a trigger-held machine used in short hard bursts, and MAX draws far more current than ECO — the combination that ages lithium cells fastest, together with a pack left flat in a hot cupboard. The imitation fault on this model is a blocked filter or choked cyclone: airflow drops, the machine strains and cuts out in a way that looks exactly like a dead cell, which is common with pet hair. Clear the airway, wash and fully dry the filter, then retest before ordering anything, and work through the signs it is time to replace the battery. Store a spare at 40–50 % charge, 15–25 °C, never in a freezer, and run a full cycle every 2–3 weeks.

Questions

Dyson DC62 battery questions, answered

Is this a Type A click-in or a Type B screw-in pack?

Neither. Type A and Type B are Dyson's 22.2 V legacy labels for DC34, DC35, DC44 and DC45. The DC62 is a 21.6 V V6-platform pack: a slide-in shell with a release catch on some machines and retaining screws on others, including the screw-held SV03 style shown in our fitting photos. Unsure which you have? Read click-in versus screw-in, and use the DC35 page if your label says 22.2 V.

Can I keep using my original DC62 charger?

Yes — the same 21.6 V Dyson charger the machine shipped with, the one our site lists for 21.6 V DC58, DC59, DC61, V6, V7 and V8 machines. Never substitute another voltage; the 22.2 V legacy charger and the 25.2 V V10 charger are different supplies. If yours is lost, see the Dyson charger page — Dyson Australia lists its own at AU $40.00.

Will fitting this battery void my Dyson warranty?

Most likely, yes, while the machine is still inside Dyson's cover period — a third-party battery normally voids Dyson's cover on that machine, so claim through Dyson first. Our own limitation is published in full: our warranty does not extend to any products that are physically damaged or that are not under normal operating conditions as a result of misuse or improper installation on the buyer/user's part. More on does it void my warranty.

How long will a DC62 run on a charge?

We publish no runtime minutes for any battery, so there is no minute figure to quote here. The honest number is stored energy: 21.6 V × 3.0 Ah = 64.8 Wh. Minutes are that energy divided by the machine's draw, which changes hugely between ECO and MAX, with the head fitted, the floor and how clean the filters are. Dyson publishes mode-by-mode runtimes per model — use those as the reference.

Should the pack get hot during use?

Mild warmth after a long clean, especially on MAX, is normal. Too hot to hold, cut-outs that clear only after cooling, a burnt smell, or any swelling is not — stop and contact us. On an Animal model, check the bin, cyclone and filter first, because pet-hair blockages cause heat and short run time together. The battery care guide covers cleaning intervals and charging habits.

How do delivery and a warranty claim work?

Orders are processed within 24 hours at our Granville, Sydney warehouse and most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days, tracked, with the number emailed. For a claim, email info@aussiebatt.com with your order number, the code on the old battery and the fault — support runs Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm. Wrong fit or changed your mind about the price? The 30 day money back window applies; see our return policy.
