Dyson DC59 Replacement Battery — 21.6 V, 3.0 Ah

Dyson re-badged the DC59 generation as the V6, which is why a DC59 and a V6 Animal take the identical pack: 21.6 volts, 3.0 Ah on Panasonic A grade 18650 cells, replacing codes 965874-02, 967819-02, 61034-01 and 61034-06. It lists at AU $67.99 and sells at AU $45.79, shipped free from Granville, Sydney with a full 1 year warranty.

If your label says V6 rather than DC59, this is still the same platform — and the same pack.

Panasonic A grade cells AussieBatt 21.6V 3.0Ah compatible replacement battery for the Dyson V6, DC58, DC59, DC61, DC62 Animal and SV handheld cordless vacuums.
The handheld pack shared by DC59, DC62 Animal and the whole V6 range — one fitting, several retail names.

Charger needed?
No — your existing 21.6 V Dyson charger is used

DC59 and V6 are one machine generation, not two. Dyson renamed the DC59 as the V6, so the fit lists on our own pages overlap deliberately: our V6 listing names DC58, DC59, DC61, DC62, DC72 and DC74 in the same list as the V6 models, and our 61034-01 page headlines "Dyson V6 21.6V 3.0Ah Battery SV03 SV04 SV09 DC58 DC59 DC61 DC62 DC72" in one line. Buy on the code, whichever name your shell carries.

DC59 battery price against Dyson Australia

Dyson Australia does not sell a "DC59" battery under that name — it lists the genuine V6 replacement battery as a support part covering V6, DC59 and DC58. That single part is the comparison, and it is also the clearest proof of the re-badging.

OEM prices shown are Dyson Australia list prices for the corresponding genuine part, checked on dyson.com.au on 31 October 2026. Why a distributor pack costs less

We sell batteries, not vacuums. The pack is built from grade-A Panasonic 18650 cells at a distributor price, with no vacuum-brand markup on the part — the same 21.6 V 3.0 Ah capacity is AU $45.79 here and AU $150.00 from Dyson. See the Dyson Australia price comparison for every platform.

What you get

Four reasons this is the right DC59 pack

3.0 Ah, 64.8 Wh

21.6 V × 3.0 Ah = 64.8 Wh of stored energy — arithmetic from published figures, not a lab result, and the number that governs run time once mode, head and filters are fixed.

Panasonic cells, protected

Panasonic A grade 18650 cells with protection against over-current, short circuit and internal overheating, plus 100 % QC of every battery before dispatch.

Fits without adapting

The DC59 uses the slide-in pack with a release catch that the V6 family shares, so the old pack comes out and the new one goes in on the same contacts.

Tracked, free, warranty in Australia

Processed within 24 hours at Granville, most parcels in 3–7 working days, with a 1 year warranty and 30 day money back handled here, not overseas.

Fitting

Three steps on the click-in DC59

Photograph the label on the old battery before you remove it: that photo confirms the code and is your proof if you ever need to claim.

  1. 1
Three photographs showing a slide-in cordless vacuum battery aligned to a Dyson handle, pushed home until it seats, and locked with the release catch.

    Release the old pack

Unplug the charger. Press the release catch and slide the depleted battery away from the handle.

  2. 2
Collage showing a worn cordless vacuum battery lifted away from a Dyson handle and a replacement lithium pack lined up to the same contacts.

    Seat the replacement

Line up the contacts, push home until it seats fully and the catch engages. If it needs force, it is the wrong pack.

  3. 3
Three photographs showing where a battery retaining screw sits on a cordless Dyson handle and how it is loosened; the battery label in the photo reads SV03.

    Screw-retained? Use your own screws

Some handhelds in this family, like the SV03 shown here, are held by screws rather than a catch. Undo them, swap the pack and refit your original screws snugly.

Stop if the old pack shows any of this

A swollen or discoloured case, a burnt smell, a pack that has been soaked or dropped hard, or cells rattling loose inside. Do not charge it and never puncture it — take it to an Australian household-battery recycler.

Diagnosis

Why DC59 and V6-platform batteries fail

The handheld duty is what finishes these packs

A DC59 is held and triggered, so owners work it in short, hard bursts on MAX — the pattern that ages lithium fastest, alongside heat and deep discharge from a pack left flat in a hot cupboard. Blocked filters and a choked cyclone imitate a dead cell exactly: airflow drops, the machine strains and it cuts out. Clear the airway and let the machine cool before you spend anything, and check the signs it is time to replace the battery first. Store any spare at 40–50 % charge, 15–25 °C, never in a freezer, and run a cycle every 2–3 weeks. If it will not charge at all, the not-holding-charge diagnosis is the same order of checks for this platform.

Questions

Dyson DC59 battery questions, answered

Is the DC59 battery the same as the V6 battery?

Yes. Dyson renamed the DC59 generation as the V6, so the platform, the voltage and the fitting codes are shared: our V6 listing names DC58, DC59, DC61, DC62, DC72 and DC74 in the same fit list, and Dyson Australia itself lists the genuine battery under V6 / DC59 / DC58 support parts. The only real choice is capacity — 3.0 Ah here, 4.0 Ah on our V6 replacement battery page. Match the code and the Ah marking on your own pack.

Is this a Type A click-in or a Type B screw-in pack?

Neither. Type A and Type B are labels from Dyson's 22.2 V legacy handhelds — DC34, DC35, DC44 and DC45 — where picking the wrong type is the most common ordering mistake. The DC59 is a 21.6 V V6-platform pack. See the DC35 Type A or Type B page if your machine is one of those, and read click-in versus screw-in if you are unsure which fitting you have.

Can I keep using my original DC59 charger?

Yes — the same 21.6 V Dyson charger the original used, the one our site lists for 21.6 V DC58, DC59, DC61, V6, V7 and V8 machines. Never substitute a charger of another voltage, including the 22.2 V legacy charger. Lost it? See the Dyson charger page; Dyson Australia lists its own charger at AU $40.00.

Will fitting this battery void my Dyson warranty?

Most likely, yes, while the machine is still inside Dyson's cover period — a third-party battery normally voids Dyson's cover on that machine, so claim through Dyson first if you can. Our own limitation is published in full: our warranty does not extend to any products that are physically damaged or that are not under normal operating conditions as a result of misuse or improper installation on the buyer/user's part. More on does it void my warranty.

How long will the DC59 run on a charge?

We publish no runtime minutes for any battery, and we will not invent any. The honest figure is stored energy: 21.6 V × 3.0 Ah = 64.8 Wh. Minutes are that energy divided by the machine's draw, which changes hugely between ECO and MAX, with the head, the floor and the state of the filters — and a handheld is usually run harder than a stick. Dyson publishes mode-by-mode runtimes per model, so use those as the reference.

It runs hot and cuts out — is the pack failing?

Mild warmth is normal, especially on MAX. Too hot to hold, cut-outs that clear only after cooling, or a burnt smell is not: stop and contact us. On a DC59 the cyclone and filter block just as easily as on any V6, and a blockage causes both heat and short run time, so check the airway first. The battery care guide covers cleaning intervals. For delivery and claims: orders are processed within 24 hours at Granville, most parcels arrive in 3–7 working days tracked, and a warranty claim is emailed to info@aussiebatt.com with your order number, model code and the fault; wrong fit is covered by the 30 day money back window.
